Q: i have to enter password for account pops down when i want to send an email

first time in community. i have had this mac for several years, updated several months ago with no email problems then a pop-down window says to enter password for account and sometimes it works immediately and other times it will not send.is this a mail problem or server problem?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Try running Keychain First Aid and resetting the original keychain.

Keychain Reset

Also try deleting your e-mail password from Keychain Access.

Check Mail/Preferences/Accounts to make sure your password in entered there.
