It never installed and the problem existed before I tried to download from HP. The HP download never installed.

You're making inconsistent statements about installing the HP software. You wrote earlier that you had installed it twice and removed it twice.

However, I doubt that it has anything to do with your problem. The printer seems to be in need of a firmware update. If HP hasn't released one, you'll have to wait until they do, or use another printer.

If you like, you can go through the motions of reinstalling OS X, which is what Apple Support would tell you to do, but I have no reason to think it will make a difference.

I agree. This has happened in the past with updates. I appreciate your time.

Just a random thought here, but have you tried power-cycling the printer? I saw nothing in the thread that mentioned that.  I know that my HP B210 sometimes goes away as well, and cycling power brings it back every time.

Have you tried using the Printer panel to configure a fixed IP for the printer?

In addition, if you can detect the printers current IP address, you should be able to log into the built-in web site of the printer itself.  If you cAn do that, then check your printer preferences and ensure tht the printer showm matches the host name you see on the web site. I too am experiencing this same issue after the update.  I have experienced multiple print errors, including one that stated that my print job was not accepted.  It has also shown the printer to be green/idle while the spooler states that the printer is busy.  I have tried turning the printer on and off, ensuring I have updated drivers, reinstalling the printer, and nothing has worked.  HELP!

Since upgrading from 10.9.1 to 10.9.2, Airprint for my HP M1212nf MFP 2 no longer works. Like others, whenever I try to print, I see the "Printing - Unable to get printer status." message in the queue. I can still Airprint to the printer from my iOS 7 devices...

I see that 10.9.2 fixed Airprint for a bunch of people, but in my case, it broke it, at least for this printer. I was able to get around this and print again by installing the HP driver instead of the AirPrint driver, but it still ***** not to be able to use Airprint.

Exact same issue for me as BolderSun . . .

"unable to get get printer status"  with my 3 month old mac mini and my HP 1217 nfp "airprint" printer which I purposely bought off Apple's list of Airprint ready printer to work with my iphones and ipads!

Seems since the update of 10.9.2 wont print wirelessly only by a cable.

My Son got it to print with the USB cable by using the download driver for wired page but the printer is too far away from my mac to keep it wired.

Wasted much time on phone with Apple support as they are uniformed and useless with this issue and I love the way you ask them if others have reported the issue and their stock answers is always "I have not heard of any one else with this issue".

I'm sure thats the same answer that GM gave out for the past 10 years while their faulty ignition swithces were killing owners of GM products!  I expect better support from Apple.

Apple would blame HP of course yet its Apple that did the update!  Makes me pause to recommend to my Daughter that she buy a Mac Mini now.

I tried using HP's chat support, but when they ask for the serial # it says out of warranty.  This will be my last HP procduct as it's only around 1 year old and chat support should always be free in my opinion.

Both IP address's are the same on the printer and Mac.  Mac still wirelessy scans (but not print) and it reads the supply levels wirelessly.  Solution appears to be that we have to wait for a driver update.

Or don't buy an HP product if they can't keep up with firmaware updates.
