FIXED....

My Iphone 4's screen went black, it connected to itunes etc and when it was on charge it kept making the charge sound evey 5 -10 seconds?????

I tried every reset and safe mode etc etc with no joy.

I got myself an iphone screwdriver set for a couple of quid from ebay and opened it up.

after a lot of looking and fiddling i found that the lcd screen connector had come loose, simply clicked it in, put all the tiny screws back in and it worked.

saved me a fortune as i was ready to go and get myself a new phone !!!!

Black screen of death.....ppffftttttt.😁

Thanks for that suggestion "iv'e fixed it".

I had a similar issue with a 4s on which I'd changed a screen for a friend. I didn't have any of the little foam rubber stickers that go on the backs of the connectors for the screen and it seems that they certainly ARE there for a reason!! I took the back off the phone and the shield covering the connectors and sure enough, the display connector was loose. Pushed it on and reset the phone - worked like a charm. I appreciate your contribution to the community by sharing your solution to this issue.

Just a tip for others who replace their own screens, you can either obtain the stickers on prominent online marketplaces or you can make some but put something there to hold the connector down and you will likely prevent this issue.

Due to the amount of heat being generated it seems to me that the connector was slightly ajar and was shorting the phone out. This drained the battery and whenever the phone attempted to power the screen on when connected to a charger it was drawing too much current, shutting down on low voltage, then trying to start again and it would continue this cycle. In my case it would vibrate or make the charging sound (depending on vibrate switch position) once every 5-6 seconds. Screen was completely black - no backlight or LCD image when using an external light source.

Thanks again.
