Yes, you can configure time machine to backup in multiple locations.

Thank you. Reading the "More Like This" column helps but that's a good link.

What I want to do, in better detail, is this: I want my laptop to make regular TimeMachine back ups at  my office and do the same at my house (when I come home). I have external drives. I also want my wife to use the drive at the house for HER back ups.

I lost some work because a file was corrupted when I saved it working at home. A whole day of work actually--because my TimeMachine is only working at the office.

At home I have a wireless connection. I dream that it will just do back ups when I bring the computer home. While the computer is sleeping do back ups occur?

That will work ok, as long as the disks are setup and compatible with TM.

Later Macs can do TM whilst asleep.. not really asleep.. it is semi-awake.

    Called power nap.

Let me suggest for important work stuff... use another backup.. ie TM at work and CCC at home.. it is far more robust than using just one method.

Thank you. I could try another method. What's CCC "Carbon Copy"? I once used Restrospect and other systems, but TM has worked so well and some Retrospect was very difficult for me to use. And any system that requires more than me habitually plugging in is sketchy.
