Aperture copyright info

How can I change the copyright info shown on the Info tab (EXIF). When I import a photo into Aperture, I enter new copyright info into the copyright field. When I check the exif data in the info inspector, the copyright info shows copyright info from a couple years ago. How can I change the copyright info?

There are two copyright fields

  • the "EXIF" copyright field set by the camera; this field cannot be edited in Aperture, and that is what you are seeing in Preview.
  • the "IPTC" field "copyright - this you can edit.

Aperture does not allow to edit EXIF fields, that are set by the camera - we are not supposed to falsify camera data. 🙂

If you want to change EXIF tags, download

ExifTool

It is used from the Terminal, but comes with plenty of documentation.

I posted a few exemples as user tip: Modifying EXIF tags of Originals Using exiftool: camera, lens, gps
