Can other computers see the USB drive and access files?

What is the external drive formatted? It must be FAT32.. or HFS+ and only the later is really viable on large drives.

Did you install airport utility for windows.. if not do so.. as it contains bonjour for windows and a disk agent. That by itself might be enough.

If not make sure the naming of the AE is compliant with windows networking.. ie short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric. Do not use apple type names.

If no luck then check firewall on the computer.. make sure the computer is set to home location .. not work or public.

Ping the TC by name and IP address. If it fails pull down the firewall completely.

You must get ping response before anything will work.

Then type the name or ip into windows explorer address bar.

\\aename or \\aeipaddress (where the first is the network name of the ae and the second is its IP address).

Apple have loads of info you know if you do a search.. although some it is way out of date.
