I wonder is there any chance use Mac remote to turn the mac mini on ?
I just hate to press the power button which apple designed so inconvenience at the back of the mac mini !

    You cannot use the remote to turn the Mac Mini on without the use of some modding. It just wasn't made for that function.

    Since the IR receiver on the Mac mini is a USB-based device, the USB bus would have to be looking for a signal. This is certainly not happening already. Also, Apple removed the ability for USB devices to startup the computer quite some time ago. The very first iMacs, for example, had a power button on their USB keyboard. However, by 2000 the ability to boot a Mac from a USB device had been removed. So, unless you can find some kind of mechanical device that has an IR port and can physically push the power button, I don't think you're going to be able to do it, sorry!

    No, because the USB reciver would have to be on to do this.

    not true there are a couple of third party applications like remote buddy and others that will allow you to turn off the mac and turn on the mac using the apple front row remote controll but they are still in beta testing and havent quite got it yet but once the full version comes out we hope to see it soon
