My Apple TV stopped working. No blue light on unit. TV screen shows an unplugged USB cable, but cable and power cords are plugged in at both ends. Rebooted. Still nothing.

if you mean the screen show an usb connector and an iocn with itunes then it's telling you that you should connect the appletv to a computer running the program itunes which will then be used to restore the firmware on the appeltv which have crashed
This exact thing happened to me after applying the current update offered for my 3rd gen Apple TV. I am getting ready to do the restore with iTunes. Is there some problem with this new software update? Thanks.
