reverted from Mavericks to new install of Mt. Lion now trying to sync iPhone with itunes

Had problems with Mavericks.

Got new HardDrive with Mt. Lion installed.

Restored music and videos back into itunes already

Had to do manually because time machine had difficulty going back to previous OS Mt Lion

Now I opened itunes and connected my iphone via cable to computer. It makes an alert noise, repeatedly "dinging" and if I am fast enough there sometimes appears a question asking if I want to trust this computer. I managed to click "yes" a few times but nothing seems to happen. It just seems to notice the iphone for a moment and then plays the alert sound over and over again.

How do I get my iphone to once again sync properly with my iMac?

Ok so this issue turned out to be unexpectedly easy to solve.

The cord I was syncing with seemed to be damaged and it works fine using a different cord.
