I am emailing GameStop and this is why my I am currently without a phone! Please read like and get the word out to everyone...

To Whom It May Concern:

My name is _______, and on September 9, 2013 I spent $321.17 on a refurbished IPhone. Up until a few days ago I have been happy with my purchase, my attitude has changed because I am currently without my phone.

The IPhone I purchased was supposed to have all the previous owners data erased professionally, so I didn’t think twice about following apples updates and keeping my phone current. When I updated my phone ITunes reset my phone as normal and then proceeded to reset my phone back to factory settings due to the new IOS 7 update. This update will not allow anyone but the original owner to activate it. I was extremely frustrated because I had no idea that GameStop had not professionally cleaned the hard drive on this phone as promised. I then took my phone to the Clarion GameStop to see what could be done about it and they told me to take it to apple because it was their fault that my Apple ID wasn’t correct and wouldn’t allow me to activate my phone. I proceeded to drive from ____ to the closest Apple store in ____ where they tried everything they could think of until they took it apart to see if it still had someone else’s information still in the hard drive. After they took it apart they told me that it was GameStop’s fault that there was still someone else’s information in the hard drive. It had not been cleared professionally.
I have also had previous problems with the _____GameStop as well. I had bought a refurbished Wii and when I put a disc into the game console it ate my disc, wouldn’t read it, and shut down. I took the refurbished Wii back and they said I wouldn’t be able to return it due to the policy they had. This was not fair to me as a customer so I continued my fight until I had my Wii replaced and still use it today.
This kind of customer service is not fair to me. I have not done anything wrong with my phone. I should not be penalized and out $321.17 just because I updated my phone according to Apples updated technology that is just supposed to protect people who lose their phones. I also have proof that I bought my IPhone before the IOS 7 update was released. On GameStop’s corporate office page it states “We set high standards for your GameStop experience and the communities GameStop serves are the backbone of our business.” If this type of customer service is the high standards for my GameStop experience then I am highly disappointed. This is not right from a moral or ethical standpoint to treat me this way. Here’s an analogy: If I bought a 2005 car and took it to the auto shop and tried to put a new transmission into it to keep it updated and running the right way then auto store told me I couldn’t put a new transmission into it because someone owned it before me, this wouldn’t happen and no one would stand for that. It’s basically the same idea and I am not going to stand for this type of treatment and subpar customer service. I am a customer and according to any business the customer is always right and should be happy or they won’t want to come back. Its basic business ethics and the first and number one rule you learn when running a business. I feel that I deserve my money back for the phone I purchased or at the very least a new phone because I did nothing illegal with my phone. I did not jailbreak it, smash my phone, or even submerge it in water. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Me

First, remove your personal information from your post. That's not needed here. This is a public forum, and you've just given out your personal information to the world.

Second, only the owner of the Apple ID used to enable Activation Lock, or the original retail purchaser of the device, can remove Activation Lock.

Apple cannot help you. We cannot help you.

This is equivelant to purchasing a used car from a private buyer without getting the title. Only the previous owner can sign over the title to you. Only the previous owner can remove the activation lock.

If GameStop will not refund your money, then contact the BBB or get a lawyer.

I think your referring to activation lock. Yes this is gamestop at fault.. Personally I don't like purchasing phones or refurbish from them. Lately gamestop has been a huge rip for me. I'm not sure what device you got but im assuming its a 4 or 4s. There really is no way to remove this and if gamestop wont return it then your screwed. However there is one way to bypass this and contact the owner to ask them to remove the device from his iCloud, its actually in a video on youtube, heres the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AvBq7cr3Zlk . But this will only work if the owner responds and actually is kind enough to do if for you. If I were you I would be ripping their heads off for this. Also depending on what device you got, I think you were over charged and could have gotten a better deal off of craigslist, ebay, or amazon.
