Having iTunes issues trying to back up 4s to set up 5c

I got a new iPhone 5c. I would like to back up my stuff from my iPhone 4s first. When I plug it into iTunes, it recognizes my phone, but only gives me the option to 'set up as new phone' or to 'restore from back up' (which was done literally years ago, so I don't want to do that!).

I have an appointment with the apple store tomorrow.

I thought I would try here also.

What would you do? Would you backup/set up from iCloud instead?

If you have enough space then try backing up to icloud

You still have the 4S? If so, sync it. This will create a current backup. Once done, on your 5C: Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings. Once that's done, restore it from the backup of the 4S you just created.

Doing this from iCloud simple takes too long & is not reliable unless you have a very fast Internet connection.
