The iPad 1 can not be upgraded beyond 5.1.1. Which version do you have?

You do have an original iPad as indicated by your model number. It cannot be updated past 5.1.1 as stedman1 said.

You have an iPad 1. The highest iOS level it can run is iOS 5.1.1.

If you are running iOS 5.0.1 as your tag line says then you can update to iOS 5.1.1 using Settings > General > Software Update.

If you are running iOS 5.1.1. Then you have the latest iOS level that you can run.
