Q: Error "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer" AND OS X 10.9.2

I started getting the error "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer." immediately after updating to OS X 10.9.2.  Now occurs everytime at boot up or reboot.  Anyone else having this issue?  Anyway to easily resolve?  It is not clear what drive the message is referring to as all drives appear to be functional when I select them

iMac (27-inch Late 2009), OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

I had the same problem with 2.5 TB of music and film editing about to be lost.  I freaked out for a while and then I did this...

-disk utility(make sure HD is not plugged into mac)

    -plug in HD

    -verify disk

    -repair disk

    -boom fixed

I think the reason for the problem is that I had daisy chained the HD to another external HD which was plugged into my Imac which was running yosemite(worst thing I ever did) and somehow that combination tripped a switch but all good now (fingers crossed)
