How to get your TV screen mirroring your computer screen with Apple TV?

I have recently bought Apple TV but I am unable to get my TV screen to mirror my computer screen. Can anyone please help me with this? Please note we also have a wi-fi system in our house. Thanks

Mirroring requires a Mac from 2011 or later running OSX 10.8 (or later)
