Hello! Bought an Apple TV 2 from a buddy (he couldn't get it to work) and I'm having fun with it. When I go under General / Network, there's no Wi-Fi option like there usually is...do I have to 'turn' it back on?

You simply select your network from the list and enter the appropriate password in order to connect.
Under Network it says:
ETHERNET >
TROUBLESHOOTING >
No Wifi!
Has the device been modified?
Just restored it back to factory for the 2nd time...it may have been jailbroken...not sure. Would that have anything to do with the wifi being pooched?

Sounds like either the device is registering a broken WiFi card, or it detects something in the Ethernet port... try connecting and disconnecting an Ethernet cable, see if that helps at all?
Yup tried that but will try again...I had even wondered if a piece of it was busted off (so it thought one was there).
There's no way that the wifi is just disabled (I've read when you use Ethernet that wifi goes to sleep) and just needs to be turned back on?
Have you tried restoring through iTunes ?
You bet...talked to support and they figure the Airport might be toast? Hope that's a cheap easy fix! Anyone have any other ideas before I take it in for service?
If the wifi card is toast it may be better to just get a new device. But it wouldn't hurt to hear what they quote I guess.
I bet the Apple TV would cost as much to repair as it would to buy a new one.
I'd recommend trying to use an Ethernet connection to the Router? Unless that's not feasibile...
If that's the case, and you're looking at getting one, I'd suggest a Refurbished model, if one's available... you get it cheaper, and the same level of support from their call team... and I think the AppleCare is only $29 for an Apple TV.
