black bars

I can't seem to resolve this and it's been bugging me for years.

My Macbook Pro screen displays everything to the edge of the screen (full screen).

However, when I play a presentation, it has big black borders on the left and right hand side of the screen.

After research, trying 392 things and kind of going mad, I changed the theme from "Standard" to "Wide" and the bars went from the side to the top and bottom.

I record my keynotes with my voice over and put them on the web and with the black bars they look cheap and nasty.

How do I overcome this massive headache? :-(

Thanks in advance! :-)

In Keynote Inspector (the side panel right hand side): setup > presentation > slide size

from the dropdown menu insert the values to match the screen resolution of your Mac, you can find this in System Preferences > Displays. If your using Mavericks, click the scaled option to reveal the dimensions.
