Syncing new songs to iPhone5

Just created 4 x mp3s from youtube videos, trying to put these onto my iPhone 5 but they will not sync. Have done this before without a problem but today it will not work and is highly frustrating. Did the update on 1 March 2014 using Windows. Any help would be appreciated.
