Removing iPhone battery while the device is powered on?
I have an iPhone which suffered water damage. (Technically it's is not water... Thank you, cat -.-)
The device was actually plugged in for charging while it happened, yet almost everything seems to be working. Only the sleep/wake and volume buttons don't react. Meaning I cannot shut the phone down.
I covered the device with rice, hopefully draining some more humidity. But it is still powered on, and it's gonna take ages for the battery to deplete by itself.
I'm not really comfortable with the device still running while having liquid in it... I'd disassemble it anyway, since it definetly needs to be cleaned.
Here's my main concern: Will disconnecting the battery while the phone is still powered on cause any permanent damage?
Or is there any way of shutting the device down which does not require the sleep/wake button?
Or do you think I should just let it dry in its current status (powered on), since nothing major seems to be damaged (yet)?
Thanks
