10.9.2 Apps wont launch, AppStore, Messages, FontBook, 1Password....

After update to 10.9.2 Apps wont launch, AppStore, Messages, FontBook, 1Password, iBooks, 1Cal(Calendar), Maps,...

So far I have only rebooted. Issues persisted

I have seen several people have isloated apps not launching but I am getting all of them. Either I have attempted to to open more apps or my infection is worse.

Next steps:

1) Test kown good user.

2) If that has the problems I will attempt a combo update install.

2.5) If it is isolated to my user account I will start blowing up things in my ~/Library directory!!

P.S. I have been needing a challenge.

Hey Scott: I'm having the same problem. After some automatic update-likely OS X 10.92-a number of my apps have stopped working. Like yours, they bounce a bit then quit. Mail opens but won't send. Preview won't open, facetime, quicktime, software update, maps, etc...aren't opening. I'm now up to OS X 10.95 but haven't seen any improvement but rather have noticed a general sluggish-ness system wide since that 10.92 update.

I'd be greatful if you could share any solutions you might find.

cheers

Steve

You might want to consider starting a new discussion. Since this one is marked solved, less people are likely to look at it. You can link to this one.

Do a backup. Boot to the Recovery Volume (command - R on a restart or hold down the option/alt key during a restart and select Recovery Volume). Run Disk Utility Verify/Repair and Repair Permissions until you get no errors. Then re-install the OS.
