Every time I try to install this update software it fails with 'An error occurred'! This is happening far too often! Can anyone help me? Thanks

No error number simply.....SoftwareError Failed....

Make sure that you do not have a firewall in your network which is blocking access to Apple server.
I don't know whether to laugh or cry- I am supposed to take my firewall down in order to load this update. I have been trying to download the IOS 7.0.6 for two hours- same message with or without firewall.... no luck here

Don't I just know it. Virtually every update has an issue and contacting Apple is a complete and utter waste of time. Come on Apple get your act together and provide some modicum of at least half decent customer service - we can't all be wrong!!!
I have had the same problem for the past 10 days. The update fails about 75% of the way through and said that the there is an error in the download of 7.0.6. It has been unsuccessful. I tried to update through ITunes and the download finishes and nothing further happens. There is no error message number, just stating there is an error. I sure would like some help in resolving this problem. The update went just fine for my IPhone5S and my husband's IPhone 5.
