Please help me figure out why when I send directios to my iPhone from MAPS I never receive anything. Is there something I need to turn on or off?

I have this issue too. I've looked around the net for answers and the unusual thing is many seem to suggest turning on notifications for Maps in iOS. Except, that on my iPhone 5s and iPad 2 Maps does not appear in the list of apps in Notifications. My devices do appear in the list to send to on Maps in Mavericks though.
my iPhone 5s is not receiving the maps push notification from my iMac. What is wrong?
