Q: Looking for high quality 3rd party TTS voices for OSX

Looking for suggestions for commercial, high quality, 3rd party TTS voices. In the Windows world I was a happy Ivona user, but Ivona does not support Apple products. The best OSX TTS voices I've found so far are from Infovox ... better than the built-in TTS voices ... but no where close to Ivona.

OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

There are additional OS  X voices that you can download as part of the operating system.

System Preferences > Dictation & Speech > Text to Speech > System Voice > Customize.

Download the addtional voices from the list and then select to use.

Thanks for taking the time to illustrate that tip. I'm aware of the other voices available from Apple ... I'm looking for higher quality, commerical TTS voices. So far InfoVox appears to be best available for the Apple. Nuance Loquendo voices sound as good as Ivona, are Mac compatible, but I can't seem to find a way to purchase them for personal use.

I know it's an old post.  Still seems relevant to ask.

I've been using Ivona for 5 years on my Windows machine.  It's really good.  I love it.  But I'm trying to get completely off of Windows and do everything on my Macbook Pro.  I really don't want to keep doing 5 important things in a Windows virtual machine on my Mac, or I might as well just keep a Windows machine running.

So, MMGreene, it sounds like we have similar interests.  What have you learned over the last couple years?  Did you find a Mac TTS that is as good as Ivona?

There is Cereproc. You can even send them a sample of your voice, and they will make an enhanced voice of you.
