I had an iPhone 4S that I no longer used and sold it on eBay. The buyer needed me to unlock it, so I requested the unlock and it was granted.
Do I need to restore it again to complete the unlock. Or will it work since I restored it to factory setting before I sold it?

Yes, the device needs to be restored after the unlock has been approved to actually be unlocked.
But I no longer have the phone. I sold it and kept the SIM card.

Just curious, why was the device sold and shipped as "unlocked" before the unlocking process was actually completed?
The item was NOT listed or sold as "unlocked". This was my first time selling a phone and I thought as long as I stated it was from AT&T that that was all I needed to do. It was not until after it was delivered did the buyer say that they intended to use it with Metro PCS. I'm in NY and they are in Philadelphia.
Well that makes more sense. Although I'm not certain it will even work on MetroPCS, but that's their issue, not yours.
