When first starting a new app up you are asked if you would like to recieve "Push" notifications...usually the "Allow" button is selected.
After a while, I may want to STOP these notifications though.
I went into each app and stopped the banners etc but is there a way to STOP push notifications all together?

No you can't,
You have to disable on by one app in Steeings > Notification Center
