mac book not turning on.

Hi guys

I've started out repairing phones, and have been quite busy with it.

My sister has now said that I should look at her husbands macbook, and this is what I got:

"Sorry **** has just corrected me, it's a MacBook Pro (laptop). Between you and me I threw it out the window after finding **** on it.... Now it beeps when we try to switch it on, the power light comes on but the screen stays blank x"

She has said.the screen, amazingly isn't smashed, so im wondering if a connection has come loose? Do any pros here have any ideas before I attempt this?

It may indeed be someing loose that can be fixed.

What version of OS X is is running? Which MacBook Pro is it (size, season and year)? Look at the  > About This Mac > More Info... to find that information.

What is the pattern of the beeps? Three beeps in a repeating pattern?

Thats all I know, what I can do is take it off him and have a look, hopefully he knows the model, otherwise I wont be able to go and look at "about this Mac" if what she says, its not turning on is right.

Help is much appreciated!!! And I will post again as soon as I have details.

Try a smc reset:

Follow directions for a battery you should not remove yourself.

Also check these:

http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1365

Also make sure the cable to the display is conected properly and not "pinched"

If you are are getting 3 beeps at start up you have a RAM issue, either bad RAM, a bad ram module seating, or a bad ram socket...or non of the above.

Please provide more detailed info so someone reading this may offer some informed help.

Sorry. That was stupid of me to forget it won't boot. The pattern of beeps it a key clue.

Please give a detailed description of what happens when you try to boot, the pattern of beeps and what you OSX is. (iOS is for a phone, iPad, pod,,etc)

This will help anyone reading this. Includuing the model/tear will also be helpful. Other wiuse these are just shots in the dark.

More info=more chance for a solution.

Hi guys

Wasn't being ignorant by not replying, but he eventually deopped it round, and found it as soon as I took the bottom case off.

It was the top RAM chip which wasnt seated correctly!

Thought id let you know the outcome
