External microphone question. I am using my old 4s for music in my truck. I need a plug in Mic that will not disable the speakers. Any ideas?

only way I know to connect a mic is using the headset connector and that will result in all audio also being directed to the same minijack output that the mic input will be going in
Maybe if you tell us why you need a plugin mike that will not disable the speaker that might help us to understand what you are trying to do.
I want to be able to hold the home button and say "play" what ever I want to hear. It is mounted in a radio that has a dock for iPod or iPhone. I was hoping a Mono mic might work. Something that uses a plug without earbud contacts.
This is the radio I have in the truck. The bluetooth links to my iPhone 5s for texting and phone calls.

Oops, forgot to say holding the home button does work but a better Mic would cancel out road noise and make my request more accurate.
