How can I move a number of contacts from iPad to iCloud?

Syncing or backing up does NOT move any of the over 200 contacts I have on my iPad to iCloud. Contacts in "On" in the iPad. Opening Contacts from the iCloud link on my computer shows no contacts at all in the cloud.

Open contacts on your iPad and tap Groups. Do you have any non-iCloud accounts listed, such as On My iPad, Gmail, Yahoo or an exchange account?

Also go to Settings>Mail,Contacs,Calendars>Default Account (in the Contact section). Do you have the Default Account setting listed there, and if so, what is selected as your default account?

As a precaution, start by downloaing the app My Contacts Backup to your iPad. Use the app to back up the your contacts as a vCard attachment to an email that you send to yourself. If necessary, this can later be used to import the contacts back to your iPad. Confirm that you have received the email.

Then go to Settings>iCloud, turn Contacts off and choose Delete from My iPad when prompted. (This deletes any iCloud contacts from your iPad.) Wait about 15 seconds, then turn Contacts back on, and if prompted, choose Merge with iCloud. Check icloud.com from your computer to see if your contacts are there now.
