iTunes 11.1.4 & Apple TV (1st gen)

While I'm able to see my 3rd gen Apple TV, I no longer can see my 1st Gen Apple TV's in iTunes.

Planned obsolesence? Is there a way around this?

What is the last version of iTunes that will work with the 1st gen apple tv?

Presently running OS X 10.9.2

I use Mavericks and ATV1 and ATV3 with no issues. Although I have them connected by ethernet and not wifi.

Yes, mine are WiFi enabled because they are in different parts in my house.

Are you aware of any apple documents (link) that may point to a way to resolve this issue?
