My iPhone charger started smoking with small flames bellowing out. Im I qualified for a free replacement?

Hello,

Im new here so i'm sorry if i have done anything wrong.

Now I have owned a iphone for years and when the new iPhone 5 came out I decided to upgrade from my iPhone 3g, I have owned the phone for a little over a year now and have since purchased an ipad mini to replace my ipad 1 and 2. I have been using both lightening charges in my iPad / iPhone and recently my iphone charger had caught fire and stared bellowing grey smoke! I immediately removed the charger from the mains and my iPhone to prevent any more damage and quite rightfully I am a bit shaken about this whole ordeal and I was wondering if my iPad charger would do the same as that is nearly a year old. I am also wondering if a free replacement is justified due to this fault (I have the official mains plug and I have never used it in any other type of plug other than charging / syncing it off my Macbook Pro.

As you can see the charger is not that damaged, I was currently playing infinity blade on it while it happened and i seen the smoke come out with in a matter of seconds. What worries me is that the charger before this incident looked fine not damaged at all the same goes for my iPad charger and i'm afraid to charge it overnight which is what I normally do every night (I don't think i will anymore however), I dread to think what could of happend if i did leave it over night!User uploaded file

Any help / awnsers are greatly appreciated. Thanks 🙂

i will add some pictures

Only thing you can do is take the cable and device to an Apple Store genius bar and they will assess the damage for you
