The ipad was completely dead when I got up Sunday. I used the charger that came with the iPad.

It seemed to be taking a long time to charge from 1 to 5 percent charged. I asked someone and they said that was just about right. When the charger is completely dead, it does take awhile to be completely charted. He also said I should let all my apple products completely use up their battery at least once a month. It'd better for the item.

A completely dead battery will take some time, perhaps up to an hour, before the iPad will even respond. Be patient. After an hour reset your iPad. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. Then let the device continue to charge while connected to the charger that is plugged into a known good wall outlet.
