How can I open a Word document using Pages 09 please? I am trying to open Word documents from a CD using both trying to open in Pages, nd dragging and dropping into the Pages icon in the dock. It tells me, every time, thast the document cannot be opened.
iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)
What version of Word was the document created in?
I have no trouble open Word documents in Pages.

The document could be corrupt. Have you tried to put the word document on the computer first and then try to open it in Pages ?
Which Word version is the document in?
What happens if you open it in TextEdit or LibreOffice [free]?
Does it open where you got it from?

Many thanks Peter. I have now been able to open Word docs using Textedit. As a new user, after many years using Windows, it is all very different!
Thanks Allan. I have now been able to open Word docs in Textedit. I am going into the Apple shop tomorrow to check on my Pages. I am using Word 2007.

Yes I have tried that, without success, although you'll see that I can now open my 2007 Word docs in Textedit.

TexEdit has always been able to open Word documents. THe problem cna have been how you gone about it.
