'Your Applie ID has been disabled' - How do you fix this so you can update apps and download stuff? We googled it and followed the Apple directions to reset the Apple Password - no help!!! Suggestions?




Symptoms

To protect your security, your Apple ID will be automatically disabled if your account password is incorrectly entered too many times.

If your Apple ID has been disabled and you try to use online services such as iCloud or the iTunes Store, one of the following messages may appear:

  • “This Apple ID has been disabled for security reasons”
  • "Too many attempted sign ins"
  • "You can't sign in because your account was disabled for security reasons"
  • "This Apple ID has been locked for security reasons"


Resolution

Reset your account password

If your account was disabled for security reasons, use iForgot (iforgot.apple.com) to reset your account and restore access to the disabled services. You can also click the Reset Password or Forgot Password button in the alert message.

If you are an iCloud user, be sure to type your full email address when you're asked to enter your Apple ID. For example, username@me.com, username@mac.com, or username@icloud.com.

Have you followed the rest of the instructions on the TS2446 page that you posted from e.g. you've logged out of your account on your phone by tapping on the id in Settings > iTunes & App Store and then logged back in ?


If that hasn't fixed it then you might need to contact iTunes Support : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page
