Problems with DragonFly DAC and BitPerfect output.

Hi,

I have been using app BitPerfect for my output of music through iTunes, and so far it has been great. But now I've upgraded to the AudioQuest DragonFly v1.2 to further my listening experience. When I plug my in DragonFly, I go through the steps of selecting it as the output for BitPerfect as well as trying to select it as the output for the Audio MIDI Setup. The problem is, that Audio MIDI Setup will not let me switch from the built in output to the AudioQuest output. This obviously doesn't allow me to listen to my music through my headphones.

However, I think the problem is something with BitPerfect because if I just plug in my DAC and don't use BitPerfect, it has no problem switching to output through the DAC then.

Has anyone else had a similar problem? I know its a pretty specific question considering not a ton of people necessarily use DACs.

I'd like to weigh in with the exact same issue about BitPerfect. I have a DragonFly and wouldn't be without it. It's a great add-on and gives superb sound through my Bose headphones.

But about a week or so after buying the DragonFly, I heard about BitPerfect and downloaded and installed it. It apparently attaches itself to a base level of iTunes. But right away I was having the same problem with it that mbrill has. I tried disabling BitPerfect, which didn't work any better, then quit it, which also did nothing to help. The only thing that worked and allowed DragonFly to work was to trash BitPerfect altogether, which afterward I restarted and ran Permissions (I'm on an iMac running Mavericks). Then DragonFly worked again.

I wrote to AudioQuest about my issue, and they apparently don't know about any conflict with BitPerfect. Now they do. Whether they decide to put that info on their website as a precaution to users of other sound emulators, well...
