Hi,

Sadly Apple breaks every printer driver with every OSX version, with no good reason I know of, but Canon only has drivers for 10.6 & up..

Let's see if that option is viable for you.

At the Apple Icon at top left>About this Mac.

Then click on More Info>Hardware and report this upto but not including the Serial#...

Thank-you for the advice. Based on my confused research, it seems I need to upgrade software to 10.6 then again to 10.8, then the free maverick...Is that a good idea?

If I only had one OSX version beyond 10.5 to goto, I'd stick with 10.6.8... 10.7 was/is terrible, 10.8.x may be OK for many, but 10.9.x has far too many problems... I think it's free becauase it's worth far less. 😟

Okay, I've bought 10.6.8 to install. The printer I have needs 10.8 so, just go as far as 10.8 in your opinion..?

Stick with 10.6.8. Chances are if you are running 10.5, you still have old legacy PowerPC software which won't work without seriously finagling on 10.7 or later.
