Q: Saved file (kind:mpeg 4 movie size 5gb) created in iMOVIE can't opened

I created a movie in imovie after clicking share and saving it on the desktop, it cant be transfered in an external hardrive. attempts to open up the file, will just give a pop-up message: QuickTime Player can't open "2014 JANUARY PART 2.mp4". To see if additional software is available that will enable QuickTime Player to open the movie, click Tell Me More appears. Is an update needed?

MacBook Air, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

You can either use the older version of iMovie or a converter if necessary; the formats of the new iMovie version are geared towards the cloud/internet sharing. QT should, however, be able to play it - have you tried QT Player 7 (the old version) and the new X?
