Q: AirDrop Name

Hi,

When I use AirDrop on my iPhone it does not show my picture or my name. It just goes by the device name. I have setup my iCloud account and I went into the calendar settings and selected my contact. This does not seem to change my AirDrop name or picture. If anyone has any idea on how I can add a picture and name to AirDrop please help me out.

Thanks

iPhone 5, iOS 7.0.6

Look especially at the fourth of the five slides shown here:

Of course, you would need the Contacts' name and photo in your Contacts, as well as their iPhone telephone number.

AirDrop will only assign a name and photo to the available option if that device is using an Apple ID in iCloud that is listed in your contacts only the sending device.

Example: You are sending from your iPhone to your iPad via AirDrop. Your Apple ID email that you use on your iPad is not listed in a contact on your iphone. You will see the device name listed instead of a photo and contact name. Create or add the Apple ID that the iPad uses to the contacts on the iphone. Now every time the phone sees that device it will link the photo and name assigned to it in the iPhones contact and show it instead of the device name.

I hope this solves your issue. If not please reply.

I added my contact to my iPad to try get it to display the name and picture. I tried turning on contact only on my iPhone but iPad does not show my iPhone when it's set to contact only. My contact has my Apple ID, phone number, and iCloud email. The contact is on both devices. What am I missing?

Are you signed in to your iCloud account on both devices?  Do you have WiFi and Bluetooth turned on on both devices?  Is your iPad an iPad Mini or iPad 4 or later?

The device that I am using to try to find my phone is a iPad 4. Both device are signed into iCloud on two different accounts. Although the iPad only has Find my iPhone on.
