Rapid set up of fleet iPads minis

Hi,

I need to set up a fleet of iPad minis for our outdoor education company. They need to be *identical* save for a unique device name.

iCloud only restores apps and settings... it does not restore data downloaded/installed for offline use.

Is there a way / and software that will enable speedy setup of these units?

Use VPP. Select an MDM. Read the Google doc below and nsdjoey write up.

IT Resources -- ios & OS X -- This is a fantastic web page. I like the education site over the business site.

View documentation, video tutorials, and web pages to help IT professionals develop and deploy education solutions.

scroll down after all the pretty picture. Click on the words "For It".

business site is:

If necessary, scroll down until you see the Browse IT Resources button. Click on button.

Institutions in the USA and other countries can use the App Store Volume Purchase Program (VPP) to buy Apps.

There are three ownership models:

Personal

Institution

Layered. combines personal & institution.

Watch this apple video on layered ownership. It education based, but that's OK.

Dear cnSchultz

What you request is possible for experts in Configurator.

It is not possible for the work to be rapid if the human is new to configurator. It sounds like you have never used configurator.

Only an experienced user of configurator can do rapid device deployment. Even an experienced IT manager knows that the work must be methodical and at a reasonable pace. Rapid is a formula for disaster for any user of configuator.

here are just a few of the pre-requisites for configurator

- several apple id accounts

- several email mailboxes or aliases

- new mac computer, or new user account on a fresh computer

- practice using the volume website http://vpp.itunes.apple.com

- reading 60 pages of documentation

I've made this document. In the footnotes are links to the offical apple deployment guides.
