Q: What is the best video files converter ?

In my job I receive various of video file types which I want to convert to mov so to import to FCPX. I use quick time player and quick time 7 but in a very few cases files are not recognized so cannot be converted.

I want to ask if there is a better video file converter that I could use.

Thanks in advance.

You must be new to video. Like all things that require tools, there is no universal best in this game.

    For conversions:

I regularly use Compressor - both v3.5 and now 4.1.

Mpeg streamclip can be very useful (and it's free)

If you are dealing with avi/wmv material, Telestreams Flip4Mac Pro is useful.

I also have a copy of Clipwrap2 for .mts camera files that resist conversion.

    Good luck,

    Hi,

Yes I am new to video. I am learning FCPX at the moment and I find the whole video files conversion kind of difficult. They are so many and complecated.

Your reply was exactly what I was looking for so thank you.
