I'm stuck on an older version of Pages and Keynote. Any idea what I can do?

No idea at all!
Because you have not told us anything about what versions, or what OS, or whether you are talking about your Mac or your iGadget.
Peter
MacBook Pro running Makericks. Upgraded the drive and used migration assistant to transfer the apps over - iWork is stuck on old versions.

What "old versions"?
Pages '09 v4.3?
I can not see what is happening on your computer, you have to make some effort to actually detail your problem.
…as well as actually answering the questions.
Did you install Pages 5 from the App Store?
If it was unsuccessful what happened?
Peter
yes, v 4.3. I installed originally from disk and transferred over all my apps to the new drive using migration assistant. If I go to App Store it says it's installed with no option to upgrade to newer versions or re-install. Ditto if I go to check for Software Updates - there's nothing to be updated.
If I uninstall will I have to fork out for new copies or will the app store retain my sale?
Have you actually looked inside your Applications folder to see if there is a Pages/Keynote/Numbers set in there?
The new Pages 5 has an orange document icon as opposed to Page '09's blue ink bottle.
Peter
not there but I'm going to try changing the folder from iWork 09 to just iWork as told that may do it
The new Applications should be loose in the Applications folder.
If they were installed then iWork '09 should have been moved inside an iWork folder.
Don't you do it or you will confuse the System when it looks for them.
Peter
looks ike renaming has sorrted this and theyve downloaded now
