icloud deleted my old calender entries (first time putting calenders on in icloud)

last night i turned on the calenders within the I CLOUD setting, came up with the merge button and i thought it was all fine

but today when i open my calenders it has deleted everythin before 31st January from my diary,

Can someone please help

the calenders have never been backed up before, any help would be appreciated

this was all done on my iphone

Settings App > Mail,Contacts,Calendars > Sync [scroll down to the CALENDARS section] > All Events

On the iPad, in the Calendars app, tap on Calendars (bottom of screen) make sure all of your calendars are seelcted to display
If you set it up on iCloud, try logging in from a computer (www.icloud.com) and seeing if the older entries are there. If so, you might try turning off Calendars in icloud, then turning back on.
