3G data connectivity to MacBook Pro
Is there a way to connect my I phone 5s to by MacBook Pro to gain 3G internet access?

If you Cell provider supports it you can set the iPhone to be a WiFi Hotspot with which you can connect to from your Mac over the WiFi card. The iPhone acts as a WiFi Router connecting to the internet over your Data connection.
Otherwise you would need a 3/4G/LTE USB adapter plugged into your Mac and not use the phone at all.
