Apple ID: changing password by email?

When I created my apple ID, I made up a cool but bogus email address. I later forgot my password and went to the "reset password options" page. I chose "reset by email authentication" (or something along these lines) BUT the email is bogus, what did apple do? Did they send it? I checked on the web whether there were any websites with the url I used for my fake address and there is one! I couldn't believe it but it exists and it's Russian. Now, I'm afraid that if apple sent the reset password email to my bogus email address, it might have been a real email address and might have gone to Russia somewhere :O

Can this happen or am I just being paranoid? I read about this girl on facebook whose private messages were being sent to strangers because she didn't verify her email address and it kind got me paranoid lol http://www.forbes.com/sites/kashmirhill/2014/02/05/a-teen-girls-facebook-typo-le d-horrified-stranger-to-get-thousands-of-her-messages/

Thanks
