Unable to Utilize "Mirror iMac" under airplay settings

When trying to use airplay with a Gen 3 Apple TV I cannot use the "Mirror iMac" option. The extend desktop option is selected and unable to change. This came of a result of the most recent Apple iMac update... any possible reasons?
