Can I mirror a disk AFTER it been used ?

I have a G5 server which I would like to add an additional drive and mirror the 2 drives ...

The original drive has been running for some time but I'd like to now mirror it as I have some spare drives.

IS this possible after using drive 1 or do I need to clone the original then wipe and mirror the drives ?
