Hi Ihave been given an Imac 27 inch it is early 2009 model that came with Snow Leopard
as the previous owner's account and details are still on the system I accidentally formatted the hard drive.
the last owner has mislaid the system dvd I cant access the computer system now..
can i buy a replacement one from the Apple store
I am new to Apple and dont have a lot of knowledge yet

It'll install a fresh OS but not iLife and therefore isn't a true factory restore; for that, you need to phone AppleCare and order the computer's original disks.
