PowerBook Peripherals in Classic 9

What cables, adapters and general knowledge is necessary to connect
peripherals to a Powerbook when using Classic OS9 applications. Specifically, MIDI hookups using OMS(Open Music System) The application,OMS, allows selections of "Printer" or "Modem" ports.

Welcome to Apple Discussions!
The problem is that Classic support of peripherals is scant. If you are dependent on peripherals in Mac OS 9 applications, get a Mac which can boot into Mac OS 9.

MIDI support exists in Mac OS X for Mac OS X applications such as Encore and Sibelius and Garageband. Edirol makes a USB MIDI adapter which works in 10.4.3 with the drivers supplied on the included CD.

What you really to find out is if there are any such drivers that are known to work in Classic or not from the various USB to MIDI adapters.

Thanks A Brody! I suspected that might be the situation. I do have a Power PC Mac,6205CD, with OS 9 but was hoping to use the G4 to download Midi files into my Yahmaha S-80 smart card. There are some
application problems with the PC Mac due to file name and extentions
which Yamaha is researching. Yamaha has not updated that card filer software, or any of it for voice editing ect, for use with OSX sad to say.
I use Overture 3.6.1 for my music scores and have an M-Audio 1x1
interface which works very well with the G4 and a much older Opcode
Studio Plus interface with the Power PC but the application has an issue with file lengths as stated above.

Thanks again and I'll continue my research.
