if I wiped my macbook and lost the backup

If I wiped my Macbook Pro and it is running fine now can I sync my iphone even though all my apps and music are gone from itunes on my Macbook? WIll I lose all my apps off my iphone?

MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2009), iOS 7.0.6

Use the Transfer Purchases function in iTunes first.
