iBook won't boot from Installation CD

Hi. My sister has a 333Mhz G3 iBook that seems to not want to boot up from a CD that has a system folder on it. I've tried holding down the "c" button. The computer can read the CD, so the disk is being read.

I've also done the holding "alt" thing too, but it won't recognize the CD in the tray on the screen as a boot disk, even when the CD is a bootable CD.

It's baffling me too much! I need help...

Hi,
I recently purchased a working Indigo 366 with base OS 9 but no applications! And, like anyone, not knowing what may be imbedded in the hardrive I wanted to initialize and reinstall OS 9.0.2 and the original applications using my original Software Install/Software Restore disks that came with my original Tangerine iBook! However, I have not been able to boot this machine with either disk using the typical keyboard commands (and I do not have access to another firewire capable machine) it is as though the disk(s) are not being seen as boot disks at all and the cd-rom appears to work just fine and read any disks put into it! In a last ditch effort, I did try to force the machine to read the restore disk as a bootable volume by trashing the system suitcase and booting form there but this only made a bad situation worse-now just a flashing question mark on a file folder appears and the iBook will not boot at all! I am new to the firewire model is there a firewire specific Software Install disk for these machines as I am unsure which way to go?
P.S. Never had any of these boot issues with the Tangerine 300mhz it still works great and I am always able to boot from disk even with a dead hd!
Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you for the welcome duane and, I appreciate your input! I too found that same answer in my further search after finding the time following my post. Thus, with this recent 366 issue and the fact that I have been putting off upgrading my Tangerine iBook to at least 10.1.4. I went online and found and purchased new complete sets of full install/restore OS disks for both OS 10.1.4 and OS 9.2.2 and I already have the iBook FW Update 4.1.7 waiting on disk! So, we will see when they arrive what will happen with the 366-it would be nice to get to use this machine as it is like new! Thanks again!

iBook, Tangerine 300mhz & Indigo 366mhz Mac OS 9.2.x

Hi Duane,
Just thought I would post an update. I received the new OS disks (10.1.4 & 9.2.2) and indeed was able to boot the 366 iBook from the 9.2.2 disk and installed OS 10.1.4 shortly thereafter along with Netscape 7.1 I had lying around! This mint condition 366 works extremely well but I know I need to max out the memory like my Tangerine as this 366 only has 128 total but I have a 128 chip to lying around to bump it along with virtual memory for now! Talking about memory and other things, I do have additional questions about the 366 I hope you can help me with! Can this 366 iBook actually support the 512 chip as I have heard around or is the 256 chip the biggest like I have in my Tangerine? Also, I would like to know if it is true that the 366 with firewire can support the same dvd/cdrw internal drive that the 466 firewire iBooks can and, is there a dvdrw internal drive that can be supported? Thanks!
