Back up of encrypted data

Hello everyone,

Can anyone tell me what will happen if I make a backup with data that's been encrypted? As in... will I have any problems accessing it later?

The thing is my MacBook Pro needs to be formated, badly. But the FileVault is on, and I didn't turn it off when I made the back up, this is merely to be sure I don't find any ugly surprises when I reinstall the OS so normally I shouldn't have any problems. But in the hypothetical situtation where I do... will I be able to access my encrypted backed up data without a problem?
