Use Headset on iMac and Bootcamp (solution!)

I finally managed to connect a PC-Gaming-Headset to my iMac and I'd like to share this solution with you:

I bought an early 2014 iMac 27". The "problem" is, that this Computer has only one combined headphone/microphone IN. So all the Headsets with two seperate jacks won't work. If you don't want to spend your money on an USB-Headset - here is the solution:

Get an USB "Soundcard adapter" for around 20-30 Dollars.

I bought this one and it works like a charm: http://www.sweex.com/de/assortiment/sound-vision/sound-cards/SC010V2/

Plug it in and de-activate the internal sound/mic in the system-settings. Activate the USB-soundcard-adapter and your headset should run as expected.

I tested it with my Razer headset "Carcharias".

This solution works under MAC OS X aswell as under Bootcamp (Windows 7).

Enjoy 🙂
